Your Questions to Andrea McLean:
Hi Andrea can I just say I'm loving Loose Women, although it's not the same being back at school and having to watch it recorded. I was just wondering, I read an article where Coleen mentioned that she is busy with Loose Women until next June. Is Coleen really leaving next June?
(off Susan)
Hi Susan, The show is on air until next June, then is off for the Summer, that's all. So you can relax!
Hi Andrea, I recently dislocated my knee and have been unable to move so I have taken up a new hobby. Apart from being a devoted Loose Women fan I am interested in the Chinese years and what they
symbolise. So I was wondering what year you were born?
(off Maxine)
Hi Maxine, I was born in 1969, which I think makes me a Rooster. I have no idea is this is a good thing or not!
Hi Andrea! This is my first time seeing your website because I was on the ITV website at the time. Shame I
couldn't find it quicker! I looked at some of your other questions and you answered to one of them that you are not quite at the weight you want to be. Are you one of those celebs that are obessessed with being super skinny ?
(off Emma)
Hi Emma, No, I'm just a woman who's had a baby and put on four stone... I think all new mums feel the same!
Andrea - What do you make of this idea Alton Towers have mentioned recently to control the weather over their theme park by emitting dry ice into the atmosphere in order to encourage any rain up in the sky to fall, thus leaving the rest of the day supposedly rain free. It's not a new idea but it's not been put into practice in such a way before allegedly. Bad news for mankind and good news for forecasters - or maybe indeed the reverse of that ?????????
(off Harvey)
Hi Harvey, I know it's been done before, but I haven't heard about theme parks trying it. I suppose it would be nice to know exactly when it was going to rain; it would make weather presenter's jobs a lot easier!
If you had to pick: Bruce Willis or George
Clooney? (off Hannah)
Hi Hannah, could I have both?
Hiya Snow White, loving you on Loose Women; thought you were hilarious with the Henry the Eleventh thing and the 7
dwaves! I've been up to watch the show be filmed a few times with you as presenter and think you are by far the best host, my friends and I at Exeter University always watch the show no matter what lectures we have and wanted to say WOOOOOO GO ANDREA . Lots of Love
The Exeter Uni Crew
Hi Exeter Uni Crew, and thank you so much for my 'Snow White' Loose Women T-shirt, it really made me laugh!
Hi just a quick email to say I met Andrea at the White Swan hotel in Alnwick when she came to film for
GMTV. As the only hotel in the town we often have celebrities staying with us and I can honestly say Andrea was one of the most down to earth and nicest TV stars any of us had met, even after an obviously tiresome journey and late arrival she still happily chatted and signed a sneaky autograph for me (I'm not supose to
ask) (off Carl)
Hi Carl, what a lovely compliment, thank you!
Hello Andrea, this is not so much a question as a thank you.. I am one of the fireman Monopoly board pub crawlers who bumped into you in the Coach and Horses pub. Just to say thanks for taking time to pose with us in a picture, it was one of our highlights of what was a great day. If we were to send you a copy of the photo, I wonder if you could please sign it for us. All the best, and thanks again, Orsett fire station (Blue
watch). (off Steve Cape)
Hi Steve, I'd love to see the picture, and I'll happily sign it for you! Send it to me at:
GMTV, London Weekend Television, Upper Ground, London, SE1 9TT.
Hi Andrea, Last week you presented a feature on ITV Breakfast programme about your favourite place, Wimbledon Common. Well as someone who only moved to the area a few weeks ago I found it very interesting. You visited a bar on the common which you said was great for lunch or even cocktails in the evening. I wondered if you could let me know the name of that bar? I would love to take my Mum and Dad there at the weekend. Many thanks, keep up the great work, I love you on Loose Women! Best wishes
x (off Teri)
Hi Teri, It's called Cannizaro House and it's a lovely hotel. Their Pimms on the terrace on a Summer evening is worth visiting for!
Hi Andrea, I only just discovered that you grew up in Trinidad, like myself. How did you end up there, and at what age did you leave? Do you ever go back for a holiday? I think you should take the 'Loose Women' to Trinidad for carnival....Maracas beach, bake & shark, cold
caribs, non-stop partying. Carol would love it! PS Are you a Convent girl by any
chance? (off Deborah
Hughes)
Hi Deborah, I left in 1984, and will definitely go back one day! And yes, I am a St Joseph's Convent girl...
Congratulations Andrea on becoming a permanent fixture on Loose Women. I tune into the show everyday and I am really pleased to hear that you will be sharing with Jackie. Who has been your favourite guest on the
show? (off Laurie)
Thanks Laurie, I don't know who my favourite guest has been, although Joan Collins was a real superstar. I think my favourite moment has been when The Nolans sang together for the first time in years, we were all so emotional!
I am so glad to hear you'll be carrying on with Loose Women (I have to admit, you are my
favourite!) I just want to ask if you choose your own clothes for GMTV and Loose Women as you always look so glamorous and where you like to shop for clothes. Thanks
XXX (off Lindsay)
Thanks Lindsay, I get my clothes from all over the place, and all from the High Street. Mainly
Zara, H&M and Mango.
From your website it seems like your always on the go but if you had some 'you' time where you could do anything what would you do?
(off Hannah)
I think the main thing I'd like to is sleep!
Hi Andrea When can we expect your photo section to be updated? There must be dozens of other beautiful pictures of you out there that could go up on the
site! (off Martin R)
Hi Martin, I know, I've been a bit rubbish with pictures recently, but I will get it sorted, I promise!
I shall look out for you on "It'll Be Alright On The Night"!! Henry Eleventh was brilliant!!! You are so lovely. What a laugh!! With you not at you of course!!! You are great on "Loose Women". Fabulous show.
(off Sue Feely)
I'm STILL embarrassed...!
Hi Andrea, love Loose Women and watch it in my lunch hour. You looked terrific in the last episode (Friday 10th August) and I would like to know where I can get a photo of your hair style. Its the exact style I've been trying to explain to my hairdresser but she never quite understands! You would do me a great service if I could show
her. (off Julie
Barratt)
Hi Julie, I'm going to update my photo gallery soon, so I hope that will help!
As you grow older gracefully, and the potential in years to come to join the grey rinse brigade gets ever more likely, on what side of the fence do you think you will be on - the side that says "oh what the heck, I'm grey haired but still attractive, lets leave it as it is" or the side that says
"do you know, I'm going to pop down the celebrity hairdressers
just once more and have my hair dyed.." (off Harvey)
I don't even know what my real colour is now, never mind when I'm older! I will keep going to the hairdressers (celebrity or otherwise) to get my hair coloured until I am a very old lady.
Just wondered who cuts your hair - I think it looks great. Thanks (off
Sally)
I've been going to Richard Ward's salon in London for years. A lovely girl called Sarah colours it, and I get it trimmed by either Richard himself or one of his other stylists if he's not available. Since doing Loose Women, I've been so busy that the hair and make up man Lee Din has been trimming it for me. He also works in a salon called Barard in Wilmslow at the weekends.
I really enjoyed the 'Our House' series and was particularly impressed by the know how and explanations from your new partner Steve Toms. Can you tell me if there are any plans for a new series? (off
Gary)
Not that I know of, but it is repeated on UK Bright Ideas, so you can keep watching!
Hi Andrea, It's lovely to see you on Loose Women! What's Carol McGiffan like off set? Is she even more vocal? I went to see Jane in concert, as I'm a fan of hers, and she was amazing. Can we hear her sing at the end of the series please? Thanks for entertaining me at Lunchtimes, as well as Mornings!
(off Joe)
All the ladies are exactly the same off the show as they are on it, which is brilliant. And I'll put the word in about Jane doing a turn, but I can't promise anything!
Congrats on the new baby, I tried to find the hello magazine but
I think I was too late! Haven't even seen a picture yet!!! is she cute?
(off Claire)
Well, I think she's very cute, but then I am biased! She's very cuddly
and fat and smiley, she makes our house a happy house; we all love her
and spoil her rotten!
Congrats on your baby and I am glad that your returning to work,
which I am pleased as I missed your warm personality. But what would you say you
missed the most about GMTV if you could sum it up in one or two words?
(off Matthew)
The people!
Hi Andrea Congratulations on the birth of Amy, Saw you back on
GMTV looking well, wondered how you lost your baby weight, did you follow any
particular plan? (off Julie)
I think I'm just hiding it well; I've still got a way to go!
Hi Andrea just to say I love the website and its good to see you back
on the telly. Was wondering if the gallery pages are going to be updated
with more beautiful pics of yourself? (off Chris)
I keep trying to send pictures in, but we've had a few technical
problems my end. Hopefully soon!
Hi there, very good as Head Girl on Loose Women. Being a bit
nosey, this fellow Scot wonder's what your parentage is? My daughters friend
is part Scot and part Mauritian. Just curious. Thanks (off June)
I get asked that a lot, but I'm actually just Scottish. I have Russian
ancestry, which I guess is where the dark looks come from.
Today, I've been watching some of Andrea presenting Loose
Women, and noted during a lively discussion on tea (in which Jane Macdonald
gave several reasons for why a cup of the stuff is better than a
bloke.....!) that Andrea's not too fond of the stuff herself. So I'm not the only one,
personally I went off it about 20 years ago and have been mainly a
coffee drinker ever since. Does Andrea require several cups in the early
hours of the morning whilst doing the weather stint on GMTV, or is she
naturally an early riser ??? (off Harvey)
Nobody naturally rises as 3.30am! I do drink coffee, but I try not to
do it too often, so that I can actually feel it when I have a cup. I
like to start the day with hot water and lemon, or peppermint tea.
Boring, but I like it!
Hello there, I am interested to hear that Andrea was brought
up in Trinidad & Tobago. I am just wondering which part of Trinidad Andrea
grew up in. My interest is due to the fact that my family have friends out
there and we have visited there several times, especially carnival time.
(off Julie)
I grew up in the south of Trinidad, firstly in a place called Brechin
Castle, then in St Madeleine near San Fernando. We did travel north
though, to Maracas Bay every Sunday to boogie board and eat shark and
bake!
Hi Andrea, Just to say you are doing a great job on loose
women, it's refreshing to see you on the show. Also carry on the good job on
GMTV , I feel sorry for you when it's raining heavy and they have you
standing out in it. Will keep watching (off Jeni)
Thank you; though I doubt you feel as sorry for me as I do for myself
when I'm standing in the rain! I'm like a cat... me and rain don't
really get on... Put me out in the sunshine any day and I'm happy!
My friend says she read in a newspaper that you have webbed
feet and so do your children. I've told her it must have been an April
Fool. Please confirm! Your feet certainly look normal in the pictures I've
seen (off Dot)
How funny! We haven't got webbed feet, just two of our toes (the
second and third ones) are a bit joined. Although, come to think of it,
I am a pretty good swimmer...
Hi Andrea, saw you on Loose Women last week talking about
glasses. You said you had wanted to wear your glasses to read the autocue, why
don't you wear them more often ? You wore them sometimes on GMTV, but
seemed to have stopped. It is difficult to get our teenage daughter to wear
hers when other people seem to be avoiding wearing them. (off Jim)
I do wear glasses sometimes on the TV, but the general rule of thumb
is that they don't really 'go' on screen. Everything is magnified so
much that it just makes your face look cluttered and can be distracting, so it's best not to wear them. It's a shame, because it
would make my life a lot easier, as I don't like contact lenses. I get
terrible hay fever and can't have anything in my eyes for most of the
year.
Hey Andrea.. Counting the days until your back on the box in March!
Can you let us know what you have in the pipelines so we don't miss a
second? (off Gareth)
I'll be back on GMTV on the 5th March; but I may be in the week before
with Amy to have a quick chat on the sofa about my return!
Hi Andrea, Congratulations on the baby - hope all is well. I was
just wondering if you GMTV parents all swap baby tips and get together with
the kids? There seems to be a GMTV baby boom at the moment with Kate,
yourself, Jackie Brambles and Ben Shepherd being a Dad again. (off
Lee)
Yes we do - there's a lot of baby talk behind the scenes!
You are a star! Is Penny as beautiful and as slightly mad as she
appears to be?!! (off Steve)
She's even more beautiful in real life, and far madder!
Hi Andrea, I have just read the latest issue of Hello magazine and
saw the feature with yourself and your beautiful new baby daughter,
congratulations! I was wondering where you got your fabulous nursery
from? I especially love the pink wallpaper. I am expecting my first child and
we are in the beginning stages of designing the nursery. (off Daisy)
Hi Daisy, congratulations! We got everything from the Mamas and Papas
catalogue. They have a website as well, if that helps.
Hello, I'm 16 years old and interested in being a weather woman. I
am interested in both geography and drama but I don't know where to start
once I've finished 6th form any tips and advice... ? p,s good luck with the baby
xxx (off Lyndsay)
The best place to go to for advice on being a weather woman is
www.metoffice.gov.uk/training.
They will tell you everything you need to know!
Are you in contact with other Celebrity Mums (or Pregnant
Celebs)
during your latest Pregnancy. As there are a lot of pregnant Celebs this
year. (off Catherine)
There did seem to be a lot of people pregnant at the same time as me! I
wasn't in contact with any of them, as I don't know them, but I must admit I
was interested in seeing how they were getting on, mainly because they all
seemed so much smaller and neater than me - I got enormous!
Dear Andrea, Just wondered how tall you are when you standing bare
footed and how much weight did you gain in your pregnancy? (off Marc)
I'm five foot seven inches tall, and I gained FOUR STONE when I was
pregnant - again. I did exactly the same thing last time!
Hi Andrea, love the new site! With children in need coming up,
would you ever be willing to be gunged on TV in a gunge tank? Have you ever been
gunged in your career? (off Youri)
Not intentionally...
What were your school days like? What was the naughtiest thing you
did at school-and did you get punished for it? (off Julie)
I had bitter-sweet school days. I was at school in Trinidad in the West Indies
until I was 14, and I loved every day of it. Then I moved to the UK,
and was different to everyone else - I spoke with a Caribbean accent, and
was very polite as most students in Caribbean schools are taught to be, and
consequently was bullied horribly for the following two years. It was awful, and I
never told anyone about it at the time because I didn't want to make a fuss.
Now I wish I had done something about it and stood up for myself.
Hi Andrea, firstly I wanted to offer you my congratulations on the
birth of your baby Amy! Fantastic news. I was just looking at your gallery
and I hope you don't mind me asking, but where did the dresses come from
that you are wearing in the pregnancy pictures - particularly liked the green
one with circles and the last one. Thanks and hope all is going well for
you. (off Lisa)
Gosh, those pregnancy photos seem like a lifetime ago! I can't remember
where the green one with circles is from, but the last one is from Top Shop.
Hi Andrea, Congratulations on your new baby. I've watched GMTV for
ages and wandered how I could get in contact with Fiona? As you know from
the website, she was brought up in Canterbury, Kent, not far from where I
live, Sandgate, near Folkestone. This is the first time I've written to
someone from GMTV, can we keep in touch please Thanks for your great show! See
you soon. (off Joe)
The best way to get in touch with anyone at GMTV is through the
website - www.gm.tv
I noticed that you have posed for a lads magazine. As
I am a photographer did you enjoy the experience and would you do it again?
(off Mark P)
I did a shoot for 'Loaded' magazine once, way back in 1999. Two
children and eight years later I don't regret it as I'll never look like that
again, but no I wouldn't repeat the experience. I was nervous, self-conscious
and embarrassed and the pictures keep re-appearing years later!
Hi Andrea what a great website and congratulations on the birth of
your daughter. Did they have to enlarge the weather map towards the end of
your pregnancy? (off Sara)
Well, not enlarge it exactly, they just had to shift the UK around a
bit. All rather humiliating...
I was glad to find this site as Andrea is
massively underrepresented here on the WWW & will there be a
Fan Club at some point in time? (off Chris)
Thanks so much; there are no plans for a fan club that I know of.
Hi Andrea, Great gallery some really good pictures
there... but what I would like to know is: when are you back on
GMTV? Its just not the same without the ray of sunshine that is Andrea McLean presenting the
weather!! (off Mark)
I'll be back on GMTV on the 5th March, so only a few weeks to go!
Hi Andrea, first of all congratulations on your new baby! I'm a
huge fan of DOI / T&D and wondered whether you and Andi are returning to do DOI
Extra this year? You were v. good last year! :] (off Emma)
It's a great show and I loved doing it, but no, I'm not involved in it
this year; I'll be concentrating on night feeds and nappies! I will however
be watching every Saturday night!
