Your Questions to Andrea McLean:
Andrea, bit of an odd question, but I love the top you're wearing
this morning (29th May). It's like a grey turtleneck with short sleeves,
epaulettes and 2 buttons on the front... any idea where it's from?
(off Vicky)
Hi Vicky, it's actually a dress from Karen Millen, but I got it last
year so it's a bit old now!
Andrea You wore a red top the other morning which I LOVE!!!!
Just wondered where you got it from? It was the 2-in-1 tank/bib type one
with satin cap sleeves. I WANT IT!!!! lol (off Laura)
Hi Laura, it was another Karen Millen number...
Hi Andrea :P You are so cool ! :P Me and all my friends at
Uni watch Loose Women everyday... Perfect Panel: You, Carol, Lynda, Jane.
Was wondering who your favourite Loose Woman is ? Don't be coy and say all
of them. (off the Students from Lancaster)
Hi guys, I am going to say all of them! Everyone brings something
different to the show, which I think is why it works so well.
Hi Andrea. First of all I would like to comment on what a
fantastic, beautiful and inspiring person you are. I watch Loose
Women quite often as I have now left school and i just wondered, can it become
stressful traveling up and down the country all the time, taking part in two
television shows as well as being a mom of two? (p.s. you guys have my vote for the TV Quick awards, you lot always put a smile
on my face) (off Zeta)
Hi Zeta, thank you very much, and yes it can be stressful and tiring
sometimes fitting everything in, but I really love what I do, and I
don't take for anything granted when I'm at home, so it all seems to
work!
Hi Andrea, Can you tell me how tall you are & what size shoe
you take? As I am doing a project at college at the moment on celebrity
stats. (off Sarah)
Hi Sarah, this is probably one of the strangest requests I've ever
had... I'm 5feet 7inches tall, and have size 6 feet.
Hi Andrea My husband like yours snores terribly so I also have to
wear earplugs at night to sleep. I've just had my first baby and I
just wondered how you deal with your children not being in the same room
as you, how do you hear them if they are crying? I'm just worried when my
daughter goes into her own room I wont hear he when she's crying as my husband
can sleep through a bomb going off! (off Suzy)
Hi Suzy, I don't know how, but you just do. I can now sleep through
snoring loud enough to wake the dead, but somehow can hear if Amy cries.
It's just a mum thing, and once you relax and know that you will hear
what you need to hear, you'll be fine.
Hi Andrea I wonder if you could help clear up an argument
between me and my husband. We found a GMTV video clip on YouTube
(Link
Here) which I think is you, but my husband thinks isn't. Unfortunately, there is no sound and the
picture is a bit fuzzy but I think it looks like you. My husband says it isn't
because you never dress like that, though if it is you he thinks you look
great in those trousers (I can only agree!). Please let us know who is right,
there's a Pizza Express meal riding on it! (off Glynis)
Hi Glynis, well... you're right, it is me! It was very strange to see
that clip as I think it was done on New Year's Eve 1999. I loved those
trousers, they were very warm and practical for working outside. I'm
just devastated that the clip comes under the heading 'mature woman in
leather trousers' - I was all of 30!
Hi Andrea, Do you mind me asking what is happening with your
home? I've heard you mention it on Loose Women - have you knocked down a bungalow to
build a house? (off Amy)
Hi Amy, yes, we did knock down our house and have started the slow job
of re-building it. I was going to put pictures on the site of it and
tell you what's been happening, but to be honest, it just looks like a
building site, and unless you're really interested, there's not much to
see. An old bungalow has gone, and a newer, bigger chalet bungalow is
growing on top of it. very, very slowly...
Hi Andrea, I've been on maternity leave since last October
and just wanted to say how watching you and the girls on Loose Women has kept
me sane whilst being at home looking after the baby! Me and my 6 month old
Jack always switch on at lunchtime, and it's a great substitute to having
a gossip at work. (off Suzanne)
Thanks Suzanne, really glad you enjoy the show.
Dear Andrea Loved the shirt dress you were wearing the other
day!!! I can't find a nice one where did it come from?? Thanks a bunch. Love
the show! (off Margret)
Hi Mags, I think it was from Top Shop, and was fairly recent so they
should still have them.
Hi Andrea, you wear a lovely creamy coloured fitted dress
with a tiny belt, round darted neck line and you look lovely in it.
Where did you get it from? (off Angie)
Hi Angie, it's from LK Bennett, and they also do it it different
colours!
I was just wondering, you seem happy with having kids. I'm in my
20s and feel pretty depressed because everyone around my age has kids
and I'm not ready to. Do you think women are under obligation to have
children? (off Nicky)
Good grief, no! No one is under any obligation to do anything,
especially not to have children! Don't waste your time feeling
depressed because you're young and don't want children yet. Spend your
time doing the things you want to do, not worrying about the things you
don't.
Hi Andrea I read in a magazine that you had a rather bloated
tummy after having your children and that you looked 6 months pregnant, I
have had a baby boy who is now 18 months old, and I have lost a bit of baby
weight, I had a c-section, so excercise has been limited to walking etc but not
too physical, I am now a size fourteen but want to lose more, unfortunately my
tummy still looks like I am 6 months pregnant. How did you go about
getting yours sorted? You said you had a hernia is this right? Did doctors
diagnose this? Please help. (off Katherine)
I had an umbilical hernia which was operated on last year. Once I was
given the all clear to exercise, I started seeing a trainer at my local
gym twice a week, and with his help I've lost about half a stone, and
look a lot more toned. I still have a bit to go, but I feel a lot
better about myself. It's not easy, and I can't say I look forward to
my sessions, but I focus on how I will look afterwards, and that keeps
me going. Good luck!
Andrea you Loose Women always look really nice, can you tell
me what make up you use? (off Emma)
We use a variety of things, usually a mixture of Clinique foundation,
MAC and Bobbi Brown eyeshadows, blush and lip colours, YSL Touche Eclat
for under the eyes, and various mascaras like Dior, Chanel or
Maybeline.
Hi Andrea, I love watching Loose Women and I just wondered
if you could describe each of the girls in three words or less...
(off Laura)
I can sum us all up in one - unique! We are all exactly the same off
screen as on, so what you see is what you get.
Hi Andrea, Will you be updating your diary again?
(off Lee)
Yes I will, and I'm embarassed it's taken me so long.
Andrea You are the spitting image of the well known actress
Susan Hampshire, are you any relation to her? (off Debbie)
A few people have said that to me, which is very flattering, but no
we're not related.
Hi Andrea, I read that you had a job in a shoe shop in
Leicester. As I live here, (in Leicester, not a shoe shop!), I wondered if you
lived here at one time? (off Sue)
I used to live in Market Harborough in Leicestershire, and I was a
Saturday girl in Freeman Hardy Willis when I was a teenager.
Hi Andrea Being a presenter on GMTV and Loose Women you must have interviewed lots of famous people but who has been your favourite and why?
(off Katy)
I've been lucky enough to meet lots of famous people, most of whom have surpassed my expectations of them by being, nicer, prettier/more handsome, and more fun than I would have hoped. I met Boys To Men last week, and they were charming. And Martin Clunes is now right up there on the lovely list.
Hi Andrea, I just want to tell you that I love watching your show, I'm expecting my first baby in two weeks time so being "stuck" at home
a lot lately, but thanks to you and your show I don't mind at all. You seems like down to earth girl and I really like that about you..
Good luck with the upcoming wedding plans and your all the best for you and your family.
(off
Petra)
Thanks Petra, and good luck with the baby. x
Andrea - I love you hair
colour. It is not too dark and has a lovely warm colour in it. I have been trying to copy it but I end up with
blonde highlights. Could you let me know the colour highlights you have? I will then ask my hairdresser to try and copy. I think you are smashing. Your personality really comes through in everything you do.
(off Linda)
Thanks Linda, I get my hair coloured at Richard Ward's salon in London. I don't know what colours they use, but I'm sure if you rang them they'd be able to help you out.
Hi Andrea, Just read through the last chapter of your diary and I could really relate to how you describe the struggle after having a baby. I had post natal depression. My little boy is now four and I have just had to accept that I am a different person to who I was before he was born. I wondered if you did anything in particular to help get you through the very hard times? Sending you very best wishes
x (off Debbie)
Hello Debbie, it's such a tricky one, because everyone is different and no one thing works. I have found that since I have been allowed to exercise again, I have felt much better. I go to my local gym, and they are very helpful in making sure I do exercises that are right for me. Feeling fitter has really helped me feel stronger in myself, and has helped my outlook and attitude.
Hi Andrea. I'm 16 and I'm interested in persuing journalism in the future. I am particuarly interested in becoming a foreign correspondent. I was wondering if you could offer me any tips and advice as to what to study in sixth form and university? Thank you!
(of Lauren)
+
Hiya, My name is Sinead and
I'm 15 from Scotland. I am interested in becoming a journalist or a t.v presenter when I leave school but I don't know to get started and how to go about it. I was wondering if you could give me some info on how to get started ??
(off Sinead)
Hi Lauren and Sinead, I think that the best way forward would be to study English and a foreign language, with the option of doing a post graduate in journalism. Work experience is very important as well, so contact your local paper or television station, and ask if you can do work experience for them; it will give you a taste of what it's like working in the media.
Hello Andrea My wife and I love you and watch you most days we are pleased that you have found love and companionship Steve was also one of our favorites before you got together. My wife just loves all these home shows. Can we be so forward and ask when you two are getting married, and will you ever come back to live in Bonnie
Scotland? (off Iain & May)
Thank you! No plans to move back to Scotland just yet, and still no idea when the wedding will be; either next year or the year after, or after, or after....!
Hi Andrea. How are you? I am really loving Loose Women, although I have to tape it as I am at school! I just wondered if you had seen some of the other Loose Ladies doing their impression of the Spice Girls? Which Spice Girl do you think you're most like and
why? (off Katy)
Gosh, I don't think I'm like any of them to be honest. I'd be Quiet Spice I think, compared to the other ladies!
Hi Andrea! I watch Loose Women avidly in my lunch hours and I have to say first off- you girls are the funniest bunch of women ever! I love all your different personalities, and you are by the far the best host- and the prettiest. I was just wondering how you stay so in shape? I read your gained four stone after both your
pregnancies! (off Kelly)
Thanks very much Kelly, I've just started going back to the gym, and it's starting to drop off. Still got a bit to go, but I'm getting there...
Hi Andrea, Enjoy watching you on GMTV and Loose women 2 great
programmes. Shame about you having to be out in the bad weather on
GMTV, on 10 December you were out again in really cold weather and you were wearing a lovely brown fur jacket/coat with a hood it looked really nice, Can you tell me was it a jacket or a coat and where you bought it from?
(off Frances
)
Hello Frances, I think the one you saw is from Marks and Spencers.
Dear Andrea, Just wanted to say seeing you grow in confidence over the past 9 months or a year on loose women has been amazing. We were wondering how long you are planning to stay doing the show (hoping its a while yet) as my friends and I are regular watchers and think you bring a level headed charm and innocence to the preceedings not to mention keeping those others in check. Good job and keep looking as stunning as you are my dear.
(off Emily and the girls in Bournemouth)
Thanks Emily, I'm really enjoying it, and I'll stay there until they get sick of the sight of me!
